Yes, I am lame and I apologize!
Ok, here's a heartfelt apology, and a New Year's Resolution...I'm sorry that my blogging hasn't been happening. I can honestly say that the month of December has gone by so fast! I don't know where it went. On the 18th, my two kids went to California with their Dad. It's just not as fun with those two in the house. The other two left for X'mas with their Mom so War Hero and I have been doing nothing but staying up late watching television. I've been so bored I can hardly stand it. I am also preparing for an eight week absence of War Hero as he goes away to Army school in Pennsylvania. This takes an incredible amount of patience and working on certain mindsets. These include juggling four kids tasks by myself, a cold space in my bed, and REPEATEDLY saying "BECAUSE I SAID SO." I'm not looking forward to it, but hopefully I'll get a quick trip in to see him and the time will go by fast. Since he'll be gone, I'll make a much more honest effort to keep posting...this maybe the only place I can find adult conversation with (even if it is by myself!)

Twilight
Busybody girl and I have started reading the Twilight series. I was a little unsure about the whole vampire "thing" HOWEVER as a school librarian, how can I ignore the phenomenon? I read the first book in eight hours while flying home from the East Coast. I gave it to Busybody girl and she read it as well. This weekend, the movie came out. I preordered tickets and we went. I thought it was ok, and liked the fact that the I could place a mental image with the characters. However, with all of her eleven year old emotion, Busybody girl fell in love with Edward Cullen. If you were eleven, and see how Edward kisses, you might fall in love too! As she wiped the tears out of her eyes, she looked at me and said "Ohhh...Edward is my Bret Michaels!" Bret Michaels is my crazy crush from the 80's...don't ask my why...but I'm glad she now has a Bret!
Edward is already the background for her phone, and we have started reading the second book!

School Pictures....
Here we go, the girls pictures are beautiful!

And now off the boys...Oh, middle school boys. Sports Boy has stopped smiling in pictures because he doesn't like his teeth. Since he is missing 11 permanent teeth this is a valid reason, however I'm not sure of the look he is trying to pull off here...maybe a tough guy look?

Now, off to Hunting Boy who is the middle of living such an unfair teen life. He NEVER brings anything home from his locker. He wanted retakes but never brought him the original pictures, resulting in me not being able to fill out a retake form. So, rather than skipping pictures, I called the school and said give me package A. What you see is package A, along with an attempt to hide behind that hair..I think this kind of a guy was called a corn chip in the 80's..Anyone remember? At least there's a smile..

These will hang for the next year.....oh how they will change over the year!

Veteran's Day!
Hello. Today is Veteran's Day. It is wet, rainy and cold, kind of miserable day. To make it worse, War Hero's unit that he works with left this morning for a year rotation to Afghanistan. I have grown very close to some of the wives in this unit, and I remember the tears and last hugs like they were yesterday. I can only assure them that the goodbye was one of the hardest parts. Now, that it's over, routines are formed, time flies by and the good thing is that no one cares what you make or don't make for dinner and you get the remote for the whole night! I wish them all a safe journey and that it goes by very fast.
With that said, if you know a veteran, today it's their day. Go give them a hug, a thank you, or a handshake. These people got off the couch, left their hometown, and are among the bravest I know to defend freedom. Because of veterans, we are allowed to vote, feel safe in our homes, and teach our children about democracy. My grandfathers were veterans, my father in law is a veteran, and my husband is a veteran. There is not anyone that fits the hero definition more in my book than these men. Thank you for the live you have given me and my children!

This Weekend
Today, I’m sitting in class 100 miles away. I will be in class for twelve hours this weekend. War Hero took helicopters to Ft.Sill this week. He was gone every night past the kid’s bedtime. After spending four nights with the kids alone (did I really do that for 9 months?), I’m enjoying not hearing, seeing or yelling at a child. We also go to really good places for lunch.
I love coming to class. It’s my hobby, and a passion. I’m hoping that in the next ten years, war hero will have to call me Dr. – he’ll probably NOT, instead just up my half of the bills. I have my WIU driving buddy that makes things much more enjoyable. We work together and he lives the next town over from me. I have to give him credit, he has to put up with the following:
I’m always 5 minutes late
I’m grumpy in the morning and spend it complaining and cursing
He lets me drive through Starbucks
Sometimes the kids come with and he gets to deal with the exes (great fun!)
When war hero was deployed, he got to listen to morning phone calls from Kuwait – as I did anything to keep war hero on the phone
He’s getting used to my lead foot
And there was that time at the Knoxville biker bar..but we’ll talk about that later
He makes my classes much more enjoyable as I have someone to keep me on task, someone to gossip with – everyone in class has a name, and offers a little reassurance when the workload gets to be too much. This is my last class till March, I will enjoy having a few weekends off.

Welcome....
Welcome to my blog! I've started this blog to keep everyone informed on what is happening in our life. This first post will serve as some important background information to keep everyone straight in our posts...
I am the librarian - I work in a high school library. I started out as a seventh and eighth grader teacher. I LOVE my high school students. Trust me, you would too after spending six years in an enclosed classroom with 20 students an hour that are in the midst of puberty. I love my job and my favorite part is opening new boxes of books. NOTHING beats the smell of a new book. However, I have decided that I want to be more involved in my student's life for their well-being, and am halfway through a program to get my administrative certificate. I do this six weekends a semester.
I am married to my war hero - He just got home from being in Kuwait/Afghanistan for nine months. I'm so happy to have him home. He is a man of many passions - all involve the outdoors. I'm not so fond of the outdoors but luckily we strike a happy balance. He likes wine..I like wine..it all evens out.
We have four children, each of us brought two from our first marriages. They all live with us..and will be referred to by the following:
Hunting Boy - Hunting boy is 13. He loves to hunt, ride dirtbikes, and is obviously war hero's son. He also plays basketball, football, and track. Last year, was his first year in track and he went to state. He is also very smart when he applies himself.
Busybody Girl - Busybody girl is 11. She knows what is going with everything and everybody. She's the leader of the gang of the kids that live in my house. She's a straight A student, and is involved in basketball, softball, and student council. When she grows up, she wants to be a plastic surgeon.
Sports Boy - Sports boy is 10. Him and Busybody girl do everything together. He loves sports and video games. He plays football, baseball and does Cub Scouts. Currently, he is getting A's and B's, the best grades ever. He's trying really hard.
Princess Girl - She is 5. She's the baby of the family, and the girly girl. She does dance and tumbling. She is mischievous, bossy and think she's always right. When she grows up she wants to a librarian. Enough said!
